Jane Austen

Quieter than her others, and all the better for it. I read the last fifty pages twice.

Readers you've accepted as friends, and nobody else.

Anyone can read it, in Ajar and on the book's page on the web.

  • Friends

  • Only me

Nobody but you. It never leaves your library.

Leaving Goodreads? Bring everything.

Your shelves, ratings, reviews and reading dates come with you. Ajar matches each book, asks only about the few it isn't sure of, and never adds a book twice when you import again.

  1. Export your library on goodreads.com, from a computer.
  2. Send the file to Ajar with the code the app shows you.
  3. Check the handful of books Ajar wasn't sure about.

Questions

Can I keep my book reviews private?

Yes. Every review and rating in Ajar is public, for friends only, or only for you, and you can change it whenever you like. Private notes on a book are always only yours.

Is Ajar a good Goodreads alternative?

If you want your reading somewhere quieter, yes. Ajar brings over your Goodreads shelves, ratings, reviews and reading dates, then adds an audience for every review, half-star ratings and private notes on every book.

Does Ajar have half-star ratings?

Yes. You can rate a book from half a star to five stars, in half-star steps.

How do I move my Goodreads library to Ajar?

On goodreads.com, open My Books, choose Import and export under Tools, then Export Library. In Ajar, choose Import from Goodreads and send the file from your computer with the code the app shows. Importing again later never adds a book twice.

Is Ajar free?

Yes. Tracking, importing, reviews, shelves, friends and sharing are free. An optional subscription, Ajar Plus, will add detailed reading stats.

Is Ajar on Android?

Not yet. Ajar is coming to iPhone first.
